More updates on rescue at hand:

We just received another update and plea for prayer from our field team in South Asia. The operation that began last night (see earlier blog post) is at a stalemate but absolutely must move forward. Our staff team and the six families who have been in slavery are all at the govenment facility right now and will be there for the rest of the night. Here is how we need for you to pray. And please do leave comments of prayer and scripture to encourage our staff as they persevere through this long night:

The authorities have listened to one of the victim’s testimonies so far. This victim shared of the years of forced labor and the horrible treatment that they had faced at the hands of the owner.  The official was visibly moved by the recounting of the story, but there has not been any action yet and we are concerned no action will be taken.

Please pray for:
• Safety of IJM staff & the victims as they spend the night in the gov’t office.
• The government officials, that they would make the right decisions.
• Refreshment for the victims, as they are tired and worn out.
• IJM staff, that they would remain bold and strong.
The victims to be granted release certificates tomorrow morning.

In the director of this field office’s own words,

“We have a long fight on our hands and we are ready for it.”

Please continue to join me in prayer for them.

Be strong. God hears the cry of the oppressed.

Praying that justice will prevail, that the Lord would be present as the victims and IJM staff are interviewed and that the government officials would have the courage to do what is right.  Praying also that the Lord would grant His peace and healing in the lives and hearts of the victims.

10 Asa went out to meet him, and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
2 Chronicles 14:10-13

Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, “LORD, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. O LORD, you are our God; do not let man prevail against you.”

The LORD struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled, and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed before the LORD and his forces.

we are standing strong with you in prayer and remembering God’s call for joy amidst strife.  Jesus is present with all of you.  he is in the room the same way he stood among the disciples after his resurrection.  breathe in the holy spirit, exhale all the fear.  Jesus said “my peace i give you.  the world will give you trouble, but fear not, for i have overcome the world.”
isaiah 42 begins with this promise, which you all can now live out..."Here is my servant, whom i uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; i will put my Spirit on him and he will bring JUSTICE to the nations.  He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets.  A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.  in faithfulness, he will bring forth justice.  he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on the earth.  in his law the islands will put their hope.” hallelujah. the battle is already won. evil doesn’t stand a chance. we love you all.  peace and power of Christ...tk

And since God says we can ask, seek and knock, I ask that You, O Lord would work in the hearts of the government officials to have the courage to do the right thing and act of behalf of justice for these victims. For you say in Proverbs 21:1 “ The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.” Abba Father, move these government officials hearts to bring justice as soon as possible.

In Christ we ask, Amen.

what are 2 books in the bible that give direction?
look! oba deah! (look! over there!) = luke and obadiah.

=)

To Those Who Hope… Luke 18:
1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ “

6And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

To Those Who Turn Their Eyes Away.. Obadiah 1

1 The vision of Obadiah.
This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom—
We have heard a message from the LORD :
An envoy was sent to the nations to say,
“Rise, and let us go against her for battle"-

2 “See, I will make you small among the nations;
you will be utterly despised.

3 The pride of your heart has deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks
and make your home on the heights,
you who say to yourself,
‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’

4 Though you soar like the eagle
and make your nest among the stars,
from there I will bring you down,”
declares the LORD.

11 On the day you stood aloof
while strangers carried off his wealth
and foreigners entered his gates
and cast lots for Jerusalem,
you were like one of them.

12 You should not look down on your brother
in the day of his misfortune,
nor rejoice over the people of Judah
in the day of their destruction,
nor boast so much
in the day of their trouble.

14 You should not wait at the crossroads
to cut down their fugitives,
nor hand over their survivors
in the day of their trouble.

15 “The day of the LORD is near
for all nations.
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds will return upon your own head.

17 But on Mount Zion will be deliverance;
it will be holy,
and the house of Jacob
will possess its inheritance.

18
The LORD has spoken.

I am praying for you and for the case. I don’t usually have the right words of my own for struggles like these, but this is the Scripture that came to mind, from Ephesians 6:

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Within your temple, o God, we meditate on your unfailing love. For this God is our God for ever and ever. He will be our guide even to the end. (Ps. 48:9,14).

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Look, he is coming…

..."I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

...When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death.”

Psalm 27, praying for light and courage…

praying for a strong sense of clarity for the official; that he will know he is choosing between life and death

praying for courage and protection for the staff and victims, that they will know how valuable they are and that our Lord’s heart is for their wholeness

praying against a sense of worthlessness… had a image of a cut up/scarred piece of wood being thrown away. but all the work the staff has done is so valuable, they and the victims themselves are valuable--they will not be carelessly cast aside

we are fighting with you in prayer, keep it up!

Psalm 62:
“Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from Him.
Truly He is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down--
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.
Truly He is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to Him,
for God is our refuge.
Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your hearts on them.
One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
‘Power belongs to You, God,
and with You, LORD, is unfailing love’;
and ‘You reward everyone
according to what they have done.’”

If you haven’t read these comments and encouragements, make sure you do; if you have read them...read them again. Then read them again. Let the words of God, re-said through His people, your brothers and sisters, encourage you. The world is small in His hands, and because of this grace, we are close to you, just as we are close to the brokenhearted through the grace He has given us.
Have wisdom, and don’t let His word bounce off of your heart or mind. Take it and believe it and let Him sweep you away by the sweetness of His presence.

This trusted verse, like our trusted God, is for you all right now:

“Your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly;
Your vindicator shall go before you, the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry for help, and he will say, Here I am.”

With much love and many prayers.

I know that God our Father has ultimate power and authority in this as in all situations.  And I know that the God of the universe stands with you as you stand with the oppressed.  He will surely make you victorious.  In fact, you already have been victorious as you have proven to these people that they are not forgotten by those who would stand for justice in this world and they certainly are not forgotten by our God.  Thank you!  Thank you SO much for fighting the good fight, for bring hope into places where hope was lost, and for bringing glory to our God!  I will surely be praying my utmost for you this night.  God bless you.

Be sure to let the victims know how many of us are standing with them in our hearts.

“ 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My mind immediately went to this passage as I was praying here. Admittedly, the context may not be entirely applicable, but what really speaks to me here is this: If God the Father did not spare His own Son… Think about that for a minute. The Lord of the universe was presented as a sacrifice. The most precious, most awesome, most wonderful life in existence was the sacrifice which absorbed the full wages of sin for those who have faith in Him. If God the Father would do that for us, would he not move and set free these captives?

in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?  All day long they twist my words; they are always plotting to harm me.  They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, eager to take my life.
On no account let them escape; in your anger, O God, bring down the nations.  Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record?  Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise— in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56.

I am praying for all of you!  Thank you for following the command of Isaiah 1:17—“Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.  Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.” I also wanted to encourage you with Luke 18:1-8:

Be strong and courageous!  God is on your side.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18

Praying for you all and the work you are doing.

My prayer for you comes from Zechariah 9:11-17.  I pray for strength, hope and safety for you and the victims and for justice to be reached with courageous, honest and moral decisions by the judges.  I’m grateful for all you are doing - you are my heros!

11As for you also, because of the (Y)blood of My covenant with you,
I have set your (Z)prisoners free from the waterless pit.
12Return to the (AA)stronghold, O prisoners who have the (AB)hope;
This very day I am declaring that I will restore (AC)double to you.
13For I will (AD)bend Judah as My bow,
I will fill the bow with Ephraim
And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O (AE)Greece;
And I will make you like a (AF)warrior’s sword.
14Then the LORD will appear (AG)over them,
And His (AH)arrow will go forth like lightning;
And the Lord GOD will blow the (AI)trumpet,
And will march in the (AJ)storm winds of the south.
15(AK)The LORD of hosts will defend them
And they will (AL)devour and trample on the (AM)sling stones;
And they will drink and be (AN)boisterous as with wine;
And they will be filled like a sacrificial basin,
Drenched like the (AO)corners of the altar.
16And the LORD their God will (AP)save them in that day
As the flock of His people;
For they are as the stones of a (AQ)crown,
Sparkling in His land.
17For what (AR)comeliness and (AS)beauty will be theirs!
Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

It’s an honor to get to stand with you and pray for release tonight. I pray for the influence of Esther for the official who has been touched by the victims’ stories. I pray for the boldness and calm strength of David for you as staff. Be strong and courageous. You are living out the life of Jesus right now. What an honor!

I am praying that God will open the eyes of the officials as you bring the plight of these slaves before them.  A verse that I was shared with me as I faced unfair legal proceedings is Isaiah 54:17:
No weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the LORD.

Habakkuk 1:5-11 (New International Version)

The Lord ‘s Answer

5 “Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
6 I am raising up the Babylonians, [a]
that ruthless and impetuous people,
who sweep across the whole earth
to seize dwelling places not their own.

7 They are a feared and dreaded people;
they are a law to themselves
and promote their own honor.

8 Their horses are swifter than leopards,
fiercer than wolves at dusk.
Their cavalry gallops headlong;
their horsemen come from afar.
They fly like a vulture swooping to devour;

9 they all come bent on violence.
Their hordes advance like a desert wind
and gather prisoners like sand.

10 They deride kings
and scoff at rulers.
They laugh at all fortified cities;
they build earthen ramps and capture them.

11 Then they sweep past like the wind and go on—
guilty men, whose own strength is their god.”

Our God is mighty to deliver!  We pray for the Lord to grant you His peace tonight, that the IJM team and each of the former slaves would be able to cast their cares upon Him and enter into His rest.
2 Chronicles 20:12:  “O our God will You not exercise judgment upon them?  for we have no might to stand against this great company that is coming against us.  We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” Verses 15 and 17 go on to say “...Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s...” “You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord...”
The IJM south Asia team have taken their positions to stand with the former slaves until freedom is granted by the officials.  We pray for rest and peace for the team and 6 families this night as they abide in Jesus, entering the rest of God, waiting on the Lord with their eyes focused upon Him, not moving in the flesh, but doing what the Lord directs.
I pray the Lord will give you wisdom and His peace tonight...Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you...” We pray for His supernatural peace to envelope you tonight.  May you feel His loving arms wrapped around you and we pray you all sleep peacefully.
We’re believing for a good report.  God bless you!  Know that a cloud of witnesses is cheering you on in heaven and also here on earth.

When I was moved to defend the persecuted church in China, God gave me His words for encouragement and also a divine promise:
“The vision of Obadiah.
Thus asy the Lord God concerning Edom:
We have heard a report from the Lord, and a messenger has been sent upon the nations;:
Rise up! Let us rise against her for battle!” Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you shall be utterly despised.
The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?”
Though you soar aloft like the eagle, though your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.” (Obadiah, vv. 1-4 ESV)
Dear brothers of the IJM, I now shared this with you as I was moved by the Holy Spirit in my prayers for you and the victims.

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Megathos!!!!  Greek for God’s surpassing greatness!!!  Can’t you hear the Universe declare it?  “He is Megathos!!!!” He is mighty and explosive beyond measure!  I pray that God will mightily and explosively open the doors to freedom for all in the South Asia slavery situation.

In faithfulness He will bring forth justice;
He will not faulter or be discouraged until He establishes justice on earth. Isa 42:3-4

Im praying for you all and that the Lord will move mountains for your team and break the hearts of the government officials. He will make a way for you for you are his hands, feet, and mouth, faithful in seeking justice for his people. He is so proud of you and will see you through. He has numbered the tears of the slaves and has heard their pleas for help. He is here. Be still and know my brothers and sisters, he is with you all.
In His precious name, God speed- Emily

Praying for your strength and continued courage.
And really praying for that one official who was moved… that he may stand up and be bold for what is right and just, and influence the other officials, and move their police work in a direction that is more attentive to these issues.

You are doing SUCH important work. Be strong and continue to rely on our Lord for energy and wisdom and courage!

But the LORD is with me lie a mighty warrior;
so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.
They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;
their dishonor will never be forgotten.
LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for to you I have committed my cause.
Sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.

Jeremiah 20:11-13

The LORD of Hosts is with [you]; the God of Jacob is [your] stronghold.
Psalm 46:7

LORD, may our prayers be like the Israelites marching around Jericho. We trust you to bring down the walls of evil that hold your children captive and for your mighty angels to rush in and rescue them. Just as you gave Israel Jericho, LORD we ask for this government facility and every official and slave owner, so that those who are being held captive may be free!

The Lord blesses and protects those who labor in His name.  May His strength, wisdom and grace be with the IJM staff and his protection with those held captive.

asking God to make your wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water TODAY. He will answer and not forsake you. He promises this in His Word.

Isaiah 41
17 When the poor and needy seek water,
and there is none,
and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them;
I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers on the bare heights,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys.
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
and the dry land springs of water.
19 I will put in the wilderness the cedar,
the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive.
I will set in the desert the cypress,
the plane and the pine together,
20 that they may see and know,
may consider and understand together,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
the Holy One of Israel has created it.

How long will you assault a man?  Would all of you throw him down—this leaning wall, this tottering fence?  They fully intend to topple him from his lofty place; they take delight in lies.  With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.  Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, and I will not be shaken.  Ps. 62:3-6 We are standing with you all!

LORD is closer than your very breath and by His character, He is making things right at this very instant.

“This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.  Tomorrow march down against them.... You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’ “ - 2 Chronicles 20: 15-17.

Lord, you are stronger than this vast army.  You are STRONGER.  Show yourself mighty.  Bring peace to the IJM workers and victims; bring confussion to their enemies.  Open a door when it seems like all else has failed.  Be the God of the Old Testement who works miracles and wonders.  Thank you for providing safety so far in this dangerous situation.  Continue to provide, continue to show yourself faithful, continue to not give up on them.  Thank you Lord.  We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.

Father,

Please protect and strengthen each IJM staff member and each client as they spend another night in this government office.  Please move in the hearts of the officials, even as they sleep, so that these precious clients of IJM will receive their release certificates in the morning. You are the God of justice! Please speed your justice to your weary children and minister your peace, hope, and encouragement to
them throughout this night.  Amen

Father God:
Work a mighty miracle that your name be glorified. Move through the justice system that these people receive justice and compassion.  May the work you do here be a testiment to your power and love.

To the South Asia team:  You are not alone.  There is an army of people behind you, praying for you.  The God of Justice is with you at your right hand, do not be shaken.

Lord God, surround and protect your ambassadors of freedom and peace, and guide their gentle hands to the path that will bring about your will. Please keep them strong and gentle and focused on the task at hand. Soften the hearts of those who have the power to give these families justice, and please, please, surround them in your warm and loving spirit tonight.
To the Team: Stand firm… you are truly changing lives. And not only the lives of the people you help.. You have an army of loving support behind you. You’re an inspiration to ME to bring about the change that’s so desperately needed in my own heart and the ones around me as well. Walk confidently in the Lord’s path, and he will do the rest.

You are not alone or forgotten. You have support from around the world, right now, praying for you.
